Hello! I'm Sammy, nice to meet you and your furry companions.
It's just me here at Roaming Paws, I don't hire anyone else to walk your dogs or care for your pets, so you always know it will be me looking after them, and you can rest assured they're receiving continuity in their care, which makes for calmer, happier pets.

I thought I'd introduce myself a little :)
I've always been obsessed with animals, but most of all dogs. When I was 12 years old the cutest and most incredible little ball of fur came into my life, a border collie pup who I named Alli. She was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. She was my best friend, a bundle of pure energy and joy. I loved walking her, training her and most of all playing with her. I taught her the usual sit, down, stay etc, but I also taught her fun tricks like roll over, spin, wave goodbye, but the cutest was to roll herself up in a blanket. We also did agility, just for fun though. I rigged up an assault course for her in the garden and we trained on that.
When she was 14 she became very ill and I had to say goodbye to her, which is one of the hardest things I've had to do. But getting to spend 14 years with that little dog changed my life irrevocably.

I'm originally from Cambridgeshire, but moved down to Falmouth to get my degree in animation and visual effects. After graduating I stayed down here as I loved it so much, but after working as an animator for a while I realised it wasn't for me. So I decided to swap dark rooms and computers for days spent in nature, exploring the Cornish countryside with dogs by my side and honestly have never looked back.

I now live with an 8 year old German shepherd cross called Yogi, who literally looks like a huge wolf. He thinks he's still a puppy and loves roaming around Cornwall with me, he loves the water, whether that's the sea or a puddle, it'll make his day whichever!

Aside from the experience of having my own dogs, I have looked after a variety of other ages and breeds, with all different sorts of personalities: from puppies through to fifteen year old senior dogs, from tiny chihuahuas to great danes, from completely calm and chilled out to hyper and energetic. I understand that every dog is different and has different needs, and I do my utmost to cater my care to meet them. I love getting to learn about their own unique little characters and quirks.

I am very responsible, reliable and trustworthy, so you don't have to worry when your animal is in my care. I always treat animals with the kindness, love and respect that they deserve. I have experience with very anxious and nervous dogs and am very gentle and patient, helping to make them feel comfortable and happy.
I've recently spent time volunteering at a dog shelter, helping out with walking the dogs, playing with them and keeping them company until they found their forever homes, which gave me more experience working with rescue dogs.

I absolutely adore this job, I love turning up to pick a dog up for their walk and being greeted with excitable licks and waggy tails! I love knowing that I've made their day more fun and exciting, that I've brought them happiness by giving them that extra bit of company. And getting to gain the trust of a nervous dog is an incredibly rewarding feeling.
